There are site visits, and then there are site visits. Last week, we had the distinct honour of welcoming the Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset and ten Deputy Lieutenants to one of our Solar PV projects just outside Frome—and we're still buzzing from the experience.

Brigadier Nigel Beacom QVRM TD VR DL captured it perfectly when he wrote: "We are most grateful to Nick and Amanda Spicer and the team at Your Eco for their warm welcome and for showcasing their impressive work in the field of solar power generation—both here in the UK and on a truly global scale. It was genuinely inspiring."

Genuinely inspiring. From a Brigadier. We'll take that.

Somerset's Spirit of Innovation on Full Display

The visit wasn't just about solar panels. It was a celebration of Somerset's entrepreneurial excellence, shared with our neighbours at Gravity—the team behind the jaw-dropping Jet Suit that's redefining what's possible in personal flight technology. It's the kind of boundary-pushing technology that makes you proud to be part of Somerset's business community.

From Frome to the Himalayas: Solar Power Without Borders

For our part, we were thrilled to share the breadth of Your Eco's work—from the 30+ megawatts we've installed across the UK to our international projects that have taken us from the British Virgin Islands to the Himalayas. Whether it's a 1MW installation across a quarry portfolio or a solar-powered school opened thousands of miles from the nearest grid connection, the mission remains the same: working towards an energy-independent, low-carbon future.

It's one thing to talk about global impact in a boardroom. It's quite another to walk the Lord-Lieutenant and his delegation through real projects, real data, and real outcomes—showing how a Somerset-based company with 25 in-house employees is making waves on the world stage.

Why This Visit Matters

Hosting the Lord-Lieutenant isn't just a ceremonial occasion (though the formality is rather lovely). It's recognition that the work we're doing—alongside innovative neighbours like Gravity—represents the best of what British business can be: ambitious, ethical, globally minded, and rooted in local excellence.

As Brigadier Beacom noted, this visit showcased "the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship, and business excellence thriving here in Somerset." That spirit is what drives us every day—whether we're designing a complex commercial solar installation for the NHS, navigating the regulatory challenges of a National Trust project, or problem-solving off-grid power solutions in remote locations.

A Warm Somerset Welcome

We're immensely grateful to the Lord-Lieutenant, Vice Lord-Lieutenant Ted Allen, and all ten Deputy Lieutenants for taking the time to visit. Your interest in our work—and your genuine enthusiasm for what we're building here—means more than we can say.

And to our friends at Gravity: sharing the day with you was a privilege. Here's to Somerset companies reaching new heights—whether that's megawatts installed or metres above the ground in a Jet Suit.

As we continue to expand globally, it's moments like these that remind us why we're so proud to call Somerset home. The support, the innovation, the collaborative spirit—it's all here, and it's all pointing towards a remarkable future.

Here's to the next chapter of Somerset's entrepreneurial story. We're honoured to be part of it.
