Virgin Unite Off-Grid Media Centre & Temporary School Build with Sir Richard Branson
British Virgin Islands
After the damage caused by Hurricane Irma, we were eager to use our expertise to help out the local people of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Island (BVI). Working with Virgin Unite, we created an off-grid library and computer lab by creatively transforming an old shipping container into a self-sustaining classroom. The new library and computer lab is completely powered by wind and solar energy and is the first public building in the BVI to generate 100% of its own power needs from renewable sources. This centre will furthermore serve as a vital resource to future proof energy supply and create resilience to this community should another hurricane or natural disaster occur.
