Last week, Your Eco was delighted to be part of the Low Carbon Agriculture Show and LAMMA 2026 at the NEC, Birmingham. Our founder, Nick Spicer, shared the stage with Rebecca Pow (former Defra Environment Minister) to discuss the practicalities of integrating solar, battery storage, and wider low-carbon technologies on UK farms.
Day 1:
Nick and Rebecca’s session focused on moving renewables from ‘nice-to-have’ to business-critical. Rooftop solar for self-consumption emerged as the top opportunity for most farms, with rapid payback and resilience when systems are designed to match real energy demand. The conversation also tackled grid challenges, the need for robust fire safety standards, and why installer quality is non-negotiable.
Day 2:
Nick joined a panel exploring grid constraints—a major hurdle for rural businesses. The discussion centred on practical solutions and policy clarity to unlock more investment and innovation in the sector.
Event Reflections:
A huge thank you to Cheryl Waterman and team for delivering another outstanding event, supporting farmers and landowners working across our rural communities. It was a pleasure to connect with so many clients, partners, and new faces—including finally meeting Jack Oxtoby, a fellow SolarEdge Technologies and “better solar” advocate.
Top Insights from the Week:
Renewables = Business Investment: Rooftop solar, when sized for self-consumption, delivers the strongest returns.
Data-Driven Design: Systems must match on-farm demand, not just available space.
Grid & Policy: Capacity constraints and evolving fire safety standards require a proactive, quality-first approach.
Diversification: Integrating renewables increases resilience and reduces exposure to price and policy volatility.
Community: Events like these are invaluable for sharing knowledge and building partnerships that drive rural innovation.
Your Eco remains committed to delivering practical, bankable solutions for UK agriculture—helping our clients thrive in a low-carbon future.
