Oakstone Farm

Oakstone Farm: Powering Agriculture with Clean Energy

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Oakstone Farm needed a solution that would reduce its reliance on the grid, cut operational costs, and support its commitment to sustainability—all while maintaining the operational flexibility crucial to agricultural businesses. Hence, we delivered a 180 kW Solar pv and Battery-storage system. Your Eco designed and installed a bespoke system using ethically sourced, high-efficiency JA Solar modules and the latest SolarEdge inverter and optimiser technology. The system is engineered for maximum output and reliability, with smart monitoring and in-built safety features.

Your Eco designed and installed a bespoke system using ethically sourced, high-efficiency JA Solar modules and the latest SolarEdge inverter and optimiser technology. The system is engineered for maximum output and reliability, with smart monitoring and in-built safety features. By switching to solar, Oakstone Farm will save nearly 36 tonnes of CO₂ every year—the equivalent of planting over 1,700 trees. This project is a model for how UK agriculture can lead the way in the transition to a low-carbon, energy-independent future.

Project Highlights

Oakstone Farm’s 180 kW solar PV system generates over 169 MWh of clean electricity each year, cutting CO₂ emissions by nearly 36 tonnes annually—the equivalent of planting 1,708 trees. Featuring 400 JA Solar panels, each paired with a SolarEdge S500 optimiser, and supported by 12 SolarEdge inverters, the installation achieves an impressive 80.4% performance ratio (939.8 kWh/kWp).

The advanced SolarEdge platform ensures every panel operates at peak efficiency, even in less-than-ideal conditions, while integrated battery storage enables the farm to store surplus energy for use after dark or during peak demand. This forward-thinking system not only delivers daily carbon savings and lower energy costs, but also positions Oakstone Farm as a leader in the UK’s drive toward low-carbon, energy-independent agriculture—proving that sustainability and self-sufficiency can go hand in hand.
