Cold Store Chain & Asset Refurbishment with Prince Emmanuel de Merode

Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of Congo

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Solar-Powered Peacebuilding

Supporting the park director Emmanuel de Merode we were part of the development team implementing a cold store chain from Vitshumi to Goma, enabling Tapia fish to arrive cold thereby bringing about economic development to remove combatants from the conflict with rebel militias such as the Mai Mai tribe threatening this community and its nationally famous fishing cooperative.

We were responsible for the design of the 250 KW solar and storage micro-grid along with the refurbishment of the Park Ranger's own micro-grid in the Rwindi frontline camp that provided essential life support to conservation operations.
