Held at the House of Commons, the reception brought together key stakeholders from across supply chain, sustainability and policy sectors. A huge shoutout to our Amanda Spicer and Hope Hopkins for representing Your Eco, and Thank you to Claire Walters Lineage for sponsoring the event.
The UK cold chain must be formally recognised as critical infrastructure, as it underpins:
💰 Economic stability and growth🤝 National and international trade💊 Pharmaceutical and food security⚡ Net zero delivery and energy resilience
Despite being essential to sectors such as food, health, logistics, and energy, the cold chain currently lacks the coordinated recognition and oversight afforded to officially designated critical infrastructure.
Charlotte Nichols MP (Warrington North), who hosted the reception, highlighted that this £8.5 billion industry is projected to grow to £12.5 billion — a significant contributor to the #UK’s growth strategy.
With rising operational vulnerabilities tied to the energy-intensive nature of cold storage and ongoing volatility in global energy markets, off-grid and renewable energy solutions offer a path to long-term resilience. Keeping food frozen, medicines viable, and supply chains moving is not just an operational priority — it’s a national imperative.
