The UK’s Net-Zero ambitions have received a significant boost as Great British Energy, in partnership with the government, commits £200 million to install solar rooftop panels across approximately 200 schools and NHS estate sites. This bold investment is already cutting energy bills for public services and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon future.
With the NHS operating some of the nation’s most critical and energy-intensive facilities, energy resilience and sustainability are more important than ever. At Your Eco, we’re proud to have partnered with five NHS estates to deliver bespoke solar PV systems tailored to each site’s unique needs. These installations are forecast to generate around 206 MWh of clean electricity annually—reducing reliance on the national grid, lowering operational costs, and advancing each hospital’s carbon offsetting goals. In total, these projects will cut nearly 40 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, with surplus energy exported to the grid to further support the UK’s renewable energy transition.
Each NHS solar installation was meticulously designed for seamless integration with existing infrastructure and operational workflows. By leveraging advanced SolarEdge technology, Your Eco ensures every system benefits from industry-leading safety features—such as panel-level monitoring and rapid shutdown capabilities—delivering both maximum energy yield and real-time diagnostics. This commitment to best practice is especially critical in healthcare environments, where fire and electrical safety are paramount.
Project Highlights:
Coach House NHS Estate: 16 DMEGC bi-facial glass-glass 450Wp PV modules, 16 SolarEdge optimisers, single-phase inverter—producing 7,876 kWh annually.
Kernow NHS Estate: 51 DMEGC 450Wp modules and optimisers, three-phase inverter—delivering 25,259 kWh of clean energy per year.
Laylands NHS Estate: 39 PV modules and optimisers, two inverters—generating 19,514 kWh annually.
CRCH NHS Estate: 331 PV modules, 169 SolarEdge P850 optimisers, two inverters with SE66 Synergy Manager—delivering significant carbon and cost savings.
Safety and operational continuity were at the heart of every project. Installations were carefully phased to avoid disrupting essential hospital services, with clearly marked construction zones to protect patients, staff, and visitors. All works were delivered by our accredited in-house teams, adhering to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, as well as strict NHS safety protocols.
As Minister of State for Health Karin Smyth notes,
“This investment in clean energy will power our NHS while saving taxpayers millions on energy bills.” (Source)
Your Eco’s NHS solar PV programme sets a new benchmark for sustainable energy in healthcare. By combining innovative technology, rigorous safety planning, and seamless project management, we’re helping the NHS lead the way to a low-carbon, energy-independent future—delivering measurable benefits for patients, staff, and the wider community.
