Were excited to share the launch of Veterans In Solar a new, collaborative network bringing together veterans already working in the solar sector to share best practice, build community, and advocate.

Veterans In Solar is powered by Your Eco and built in partnership with people who know the sector and the transition journey first-hand. The aim is simple: make it easier for veterans to find purpose, opportunity, and belonging in one of the UKs fastest-growing industries.

Why Veterans In Solar exists

Veterans often leave service with deep operational experience, leadership under pressure, and a bias for getting things done. What many are looking for next is purpose and a clear pathway into meaningful work.

The solar sector offers both practical, hands-on delivery roles, fast-moving project environments, and a mission that matters: energy independence and decarbonisation.

Veterans In Solar exists to:

  • Connect veterans already in the sector through informed discussion and advocacy

  • Provide insight, introductions and opportunities for those considering a move into solar

  • Create a community that is built on contribution without relying on low-hanging government funding

Built by people in the know

This network is being built by:

  • Nick Spicer (Your Eco)

  • Tom Hargreave (Electron Green)

  • Garrath Williams (JobOppO)

All three founders are committed to creating a place where networks can be used well, information can be shared openly, and stories can be told honestly because the time is right to make a genuine difference.

What's coming in 2026

Veterans In Solar will be active in two places:

  • The LinkedIn Group (for discussion, sharing, and visibility)

  • JobOppO House (for community, support, and opportunities)

As well as ongoing conversation, the plan is to host:

  • A couple of virtual meetups in 2026

  • And, if we hit critical mass, an in-person event to bring the community together

How to get involved

If youre a veteran already working in solar or youre exploring your next step and want to understand where you could fit wed love you in the conversation.

A final word

This is about veterans helping veterans and helping the UK accelerate the transition to clean energy at the same time.

Veterans helping Veterans power on.
