New Opportunities for Solar in Construction

A Solar PV system will help you meet all the minimum renewable energy requirements across the construction sector (including PART L of the building regulations) and the ‘London Plan’, in addition to improving your BREEAM score.

The majority of solar panels installations in the UK are retro-fits, however, the construction sector has the advantage of integrating renewable technology into the planning phase, which gives Your Eco a fresh opportunity to demonstrate our market-leading design and an innovative approach to project development.

We have a unique track record with some of the most bankable construction companies in the UK sector, ensuring that our experience will deliver high-quality work for your construction projects with seamless building integration at the fore.

Building sites are our second home, so we’re happy to be briefed on-location and get a feel for the project and your all-important energy needs – we’ll even bring our own hard hats.

Construction Solar Case Studies

Litecast,
Warwickshire

We were thrilled to have been asked by Litecast to lead the way with this first-of-its kind in Europe APS installation at their £70million production facility in Nuneaton.

Unusually, Litecast were able to use the energy produced by the solar install to power the Nuneaton site whilst still under construction. Normally, not yet being connected to the Grid would mean a delay for us beginning works, but thanks to SolarEdge’s APS mode, we were able to get going straight away, meaning Litecast were able enjoy the cost and environmental benefits of solar power almost from day one.

Winchester Sport & Leisure Park,
Hampshire

In addition to the 402 PV panels fitted to the roof of the fitness suite, the new Winchester Leisure & Sport centre boasts thermally efficient solar control glazing to the façades, water efficient fixtures and fittings, and extensive rainwater leisure facilities, making it one of the greenest leisure parks in the UK.

Providing renewable energy to the centre, the energy produced and stored by the PVs in one hour will supply enough energy to power the pool hall lights for 21.5hrs, the pool water heating and the electrical generation, all of which will see the project achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating

Woodlodge - Tetbury,
Gloucestershire

No stranger to green energy, this well-established family business briefed us integrate additional renewable energy onto their busy site. We recommended a bespoke solar PV system that worked in conjunction with two existing wind turbines as well as future-proofing the system in line with the growing business.

Working closely with Western Power Distribution and our partners at PAD Technology we used a G100 export limitation system to maximise generation capacity and fully harmonise the solar and wind assets together with the grid.

With the installation delivering an annual estimated carbon offset equivalent to planting 4200 trees, it was a pleasure to go above and beyond and support this renowned British gardenware brand in going even greener.

Teal's Farm Store,
Somerset

Tucked beside the A303 in Somerset, this independent farm store stock their shelves with small-batch, artisan goodies, made in line with their deep-rooted eco-friendly ethos. So, when they asked us to come up with a solar energy design to suit their needs, we were delighted to get to know their business a little more.

Adding to a building that already treads very carefully on its environment, we installed Solar Edge monitoring and an IRFTS in-roof Mounting System. In doing so, the array blends seamlessly into the roof and delivers not only the very best in visual aesthetics but also ensures the system works efficiently and fulfils the energy demands of the food market, restaurant & gift shop, all housed under one roof.

If you’re ever in the area, we highly recommend a visit to Teal’s, who have really nailed what it takes to run a sustainable business. We’ll definitely be back, next time without the hard hats.
