BATTERY STORAGE

Arrow Down

Meet Tesla Powerwall, Our Battery of Choice

Battery storage involves storing solar PV generated electricity so that it can be used at a later time to meet demand during periods of low generation or provide a backup power source. It is crucial in overcoming the intermittency of renewables, making them a viable alternative to fossil fuels and working in a de-centralised capacity.

Tesla Powerwall is a great addition to Your Eco products and services from a global leading manufacturer who are at the fore of the low carbon pursuit, and a positive disruptive innovator in the sector.  Powerwall is unique from a cost perspective, delivering unrivalled capabilities to the homeowner, which can be aggregated to a commercial or agricultural application.

How Does Battery Storage Work?

battery-storage-flow-diagram.png

The batteries store the renewable energy generated, and when it’s needed, they can quickly release the energy into the grid to meet the need. This makes the power supply smoother and more predictable. The energy stored in the batteries can also be used in times of peak demand, to reduce the heavy loads on centralised infrastructure. During the day, the sun shines on the solar panels, charging the batteries. At night, the building draws electricity from the battery, powering it with clean, sustainable energy 24/7.

Benefits of Battery Storage

Load Shifting

Charge during low rate periods when demand for electricity is lower and discharge during more expensive rate periods when electricity demand is higher.

Consumption

Increasing self-consumption of solar power generation

Storage

Store surplus solar energy during daylight hours and use that energy later when the sun is not shining

Back-up Power

Assures power in the event of a grid outage

Tesla Powerwall Pricing and Installation

Your final design and pricing will be based on your electrical panel, home energy usage, number of Tesla Powerwall batteries you need, and where you’d like your Tesla Powerwall installed. Typical installations cost in the region of £7000 exclusive of a solar installation, electrical upgrades, & VAT.

Battery Storage Case Studies

Solar for Schools,

Nepal

Working alongside Team Rubicon and HRH Prince Harry, Your Eco volunteered to install solar energy for a school in the remote region of Gorkha, an area synonymous with the infamous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers. Only a few kms from the epicentre of the 2015 earthquake, the town was devastated and struggled without reliable power for months. To support the local community and restore their energy supply, Your Eco set up a 4 kW solar PV system for the school. The panels were coupled with a battery storage system to make them completely self-sufficient, providing a further source of protection to energy supply should another natural disaster occur.

Church Farm,

Somerset

This project was for a residential client in Church Farm, installing a 4.5kW in-roof system on a new build house. Through effective project management working alongside Autograph Homes, the homebuilders for the Church Farm development, Your Eco effectively managed the needs of both the homeowner and homebuilder. The new house integrates top of the line technology, including Viridian panels with a Solar Edge inverter and Tesla Powerwall, creating a sustainable, high-quality solar PV system that will help the homeowner save significantly on energy costs.

Churchbridge,

Somerset

This single-phase 4.6 kW system was installed with innovation and creatively at the forefront of design. Built into a bespoke wooden frame formed above a barren piece of land to create a raised solar array, the modules provide a simultaneous greenhouse effect for growing tomato plants below, whilst blending natural into the surroundings. The system incorporates Solar Edge technology and feeds into a Tesla Powerwall, which was provided to take the load of a new build lodge that will house a radio studio for the client.

Manor Barn,

Somerset

Designed with aesthetics at the fore to blend seamlessly into this sympathetic barn conversion, this system consists of a 4.6 kW solar ground mount using Solar Edge, a Tesla Powerwall and EV charger plus 2 x Air source heat pumps for the main barn and its studio. The client wanted to work towards creating a low carbon home and have now moved completely off oil onto a renewable source with the majority of all electricity now coming from solar.
